Matemwe Bungalows is located on the northeast coast of Zanzibar island off the coast of Tanzania.
Back in the pioneering days of the late 1980s, a bunch of very cool European travellers chose the best location on the island to build their version of paradise.
Set upon a coral outcrop and with commanding views of the stunning beach and lagoon, the lodge has evolved over the years from a pretty shaggy affair into a rather elegant and discreet place, with seventeen delicious seafront bungalows set up above the water and backed by wonderful secluded gardens.
And the best diving on Zanzibar is just offshore at Mnemba Atoll.
Matemwe Bungalows is quite simply the best high-end small beach lodge on Zanzibar and one of our all-time absolute favourite places.
Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth.
