Upsides …
This medium-quality medium-sized lodge is set on a magnificent white-sand beach at the back of a stunning coral lagoon. It is a clean and efficient little place, with modest public areas, a lovely swimming pool and accommodation in a total of 20 modest but comfortable guest rooms. The lodge is relatively good value for money.

Downsides …
The main potential downsides are that the lodge is quite simple, exposed to the wind and close to other properties, whilst the beach is not private and very tidal. The lodge is too remote for some excursions around the island, the diving is not the strongest on Zanzibar and there is very little nightlife.

When to visit …

How we like to include this lodge in trips …
The Paje area is typical of the magnificent East Coast of Zanzibar and contains some really decent accommodation options. We tend to recommend it quite regularly to guests for whom diving is not a priority.
Hakuna Majiwe Lodge is one of the most pleasant of the medium-priced lodge options on the island. Relatively simple, it suits people who are perhaps a little outdoorsy. Over the years it has gone through a number of different owners, having originally been built by a lovely lady from Italy who brought a real sense of style and flair to the place. The present owners seem to be returning it to its best. It really is a top location for kite-surfing in particular.
Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth.
