Diving Equipment

All our recommended dive centres have excellent, modern and well-maintained equipment so if you want to travel light then you can leave your own kit behind with the possible exception of that favourite, perfectly fitting mask.

Most prices quoted will include full equipment hire and we may be able to negotiate up to a 10% discount if you want to use your own kit.

Mask & snorkels: usually included

All dive schools have a good range of quality masks and snorkels but none keep masks with any sort of prescription lenses.

Fins: usually included

All dive schools stock a range of fins for all sizes. Most are of the closed variety but you may be able to hire separate shoes and open fins in some parts.

Wetsuits: usually included

All year round you will only need a maximum of a 5mm wetsuit and a 3mm suit will usually suffice unless you usually feel the cold. Shorties are fine warmth wise but you do then run the risk of coral abrasion.

BCDs: usually included

Most schools carry a good selection of BCDs, from small through to extra large. If you are pre-booking any diving, let us know your jacket requirements and we will endeavour to arrange these in advance.

Weights: usually included

Some dive schools have underwater stills cameras (Nikonos) and film for hire but they are often ‘out of order’ so don’t bank on this. Underwater video is still quite new to the region and you will need to bring along all your own equipment.

Scuba scooters: not included

The dive school that operates out of Matemwe Bungalows have a couple of scuba scooter for hire which are quite a laugh.
